Alex Zamora Obituary

Alex J. Zamora

1973 - 2017

Alex Zamora was a man who lived his life with passion, love, determination, and dedication to those around him, even when his own body betrayed him, leaving him weak, exhausted, in pain. As a son, he brought joy, light, and laughter into his parents' lives from the moment he was born, until his last breath. As a sibling, he was a companion, a confidant, a playmate, and a lifeline to his brother and sister, both in childhood, and as they grew into adulthood. As a husband, he cherished and supported his wife, through their exciting adventures of world travel, moves to new homes, having children, but also through the simple, daily tasks of living, the dish-washing, the floor-sweeping. As a father, he was a loving guide and teacher, a model of how boys should grow into men, and also a fun, playful companion who would play a card game or throw a football, right up until his body just couldn't anymore?to his boys, he was the best in the world. As a friend, he was as solid as giant redwood, always there even if years had gone by since he'd seen his buddy, there to have a drink and laugh, to reminisce, to create new memories. As a caregiver to his many patients at Oregon Cardiology, Alex was more than simply a health-care provider--he was an ally, a champion for their health and wellness. He listened with his whole mind, cared with his whole heart, and dedicated his whole self to helping his patients feel as well as they could, even in his last months of work when he was sicker than many of his own patients.

The world is a little dimmer without his bright spirit still here on earth. Alex died the evening of February 10 in his mother's home, supported by his family who helped him pass into the next world surrounded with love.

Donations can be made to the Adult Congenital Heart Association in Alex's name.

[A memorial service and reception will be held February 20th at 4:30 p.m. at First Congregational, United Church of Christ, 1050 E. 23rd Ave. in Eugene.]

Alex was very kind and patient with my Dad when we had appointments, I was very sad to hear of his passing. I always enjoyed talking to Alex, he really cared about his patients. I didn't even know he was sick. Rest in Peace Alex, and say hello to my Pops.

I am a 69 year old woman who had to have open heart surgery. Alex was the practitioner who helped me so much. He was a wonderful person, kind and informed and helped me to feel encouraged in my wellness. So sad for his passing.

Alex,
You are a rock for your family by your example. Thank you for the times we hung out as young dummies...You always shined above and I adore your family and the comments on your character. Same guy I knew YEARS ago...The guy that was always ahead of the curve....an old soul. I'll adapt the "smile" signature you always personified. Rest buddy. Best to your wife and children. John
