Ronald Pc Obituary

Dr. Ronald V. Cuevas, OD PC
10/20/1961 - 12/16/2019
It is with immense sadness, the family of Dr. Ronald Vincent Cuevas, announces his passing of natural causes, on December 16th, 2019, at the age of 58 years old.
He was born in Apple Valley, CA. to Fernando & Josephine Cuevas. He grew up in Reedley CA, and graduated from Reedley High School. He completed his prerequisites at Oxnard Community College, in Oxnard CA. He went on to attend Pacific University to complete his Doctorate of Optometry, in Forest Grove, OR., graduating with the class of 1986.
During his 30+years as an optometrist, he served thousands of patients locally & globally. He was a highly respected and beloved eye doctor to many, as the primary practicing optometrist at LensCrafters, in Eugene OR. He donated his time by providing free eye exams to those in need, through the local Eugene chapter of the Lion's Club. He participated in 19 vision care mission trips, restoring the gift of sight to countless low-income individuals in the countries of South & Central America, Africa, and East Asia.
Dr. Cuevas enjoyed hiking, biking and physical fitness. He was a grill master and his specialty was carne asada. He had a passion for German sports cars and he drove them with fine expertise. He carried on his father's love for landscaping and gardening, creating beautiful surroundings for his family and friends to enjoy with him. He was happy to share a cold, Modelo beer, with anyone who graced his home. He was also a longtime fan of the Oregon Ducks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shawna Lynn Cuevas, daughter, Isabella Talia Cuevas (his pride & joy), his three sisters, Maria Dolores (DeeDee) Cuevas, Laura Elena Cuevas, and Roseanna Cuevas, as well as his nephews, Talon Rhea Somera & Peter Anthony Garcia, and his great nephew, Declan Somera. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Castro-Cuevas & Fernando Cuevas.
His Celebration of life will be held at Crossfire Church (Springfield Campus), 942 28th St., Springfield OR, 97477, on January 18th, 2020 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship fund will be set up in his name. Further information will be forthcoming. He will be dearly missed...

I'm truly shocked and saddened by this. I was just thinking about Ron, and wondered if he was still in practice. I haven't lived in Oregon for about 8 years, so its easy to lose track of time and touch with people. I worked for him as an optometric assistant at LensCrafters from 2000 to 2001. He inspired me to pursue a career as an ophthalmic technician, so off to school I went.
Dr. Cuevas invested in his family, his friends and his employees. Whether it was taking the time to get to know someone or expressing the patience during a stressful situation at work, I really do have great memories of him.

Thinking about you today, Dad. Today marks 3 years since your Celebration of Life service. I miss you more every day, but I know you've been watching over me and supporting me one way or another while I've been in law school. I've kept my promise to continue to make you proud-that'll never change. Love you forever <3

We are all saddened at Ron's unexpected passing. Our hearts and prayers go out to Shawna, Ron's sisters, and Isabella.
Aside frome being our family eye doctor, we mostly came to know Ron through his daughter Isabella. She was definitely the pride and joy of his life!! We are so grateful to have spent time with Ron and his family this Summer at Isabella's graduation celebration. Thankyou Ron, for raising such an amazing daughter. She has been a blessing to our family. Your legacy will continue through her.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Cuevas for many years. We've always thought so very highly of him as a person and doctor. My husband's last visit to him was December 12 this year, we only learned yesterday of his passing. We're heartbroken for his family and saddened for our loss of a wonderful doctor.

He had been my dr since I came to Oregon in 1991. He always had a smile and some fitness/nutrition advice for me. His last suggestion was to give up bread which I had to apologize in advance cuz I can't imagine life without bread. He was on the keto diet and was looking great as always. He took care of me and my family, and never had to question (except for the no bread) anyhing he had done for us! He was truly an up and up strait shooter and that's what I loved best about him! He was one of a kind and I am shocked and saddened by the news of his death!! And NOT looking forward to finding a different Dr! My thoughts and prayers goes out to his family which he talked about with great love and appreciation!! RIP Ron!

He left this earth way too soon! I have happy memories playing with cousin Ronnie when we were young....in Reedley....as well as at our grandparents home in Santa Paula.
Death is an unwelcome intruder, for sure! I am praying for all of his closest family members that he has left behind, especially His beautiful wife Shawna and daughter Isabella! May God comfort you!

A great doctor and friend who always had time for everyone. He always beamed when he spoke of his family and had a smile for everyone. My life was better knowing you and your memory will continue by all the lives you touched. Godspeed my friend until we meet again.
