Sylvia Crump Obituary

April 21, 1931 -

August 20, 2018

Surrounded by loved ones, Sylvia Louise Crump passed away Aug. 20th at age of 87. A graveside service will be held Sat., Aug. 25th at 11:00 am, at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Junction City, with reception to follow at Scandia Hall.

She was born April 21, 1931 in Reed, OK to Leander and Avie Ray. She was the fourth child in a family of ten children.

Sylvia married Alton Crump, April 16, 1946. They celebrated 72 years of marriage and in those years built a wonderful life together.

From 1966-1993 Sylvia was Media Room Supervisor in Molecular Bio. at the U of O.

She enjoyed being involved and doing volunteer work. For 10 years she was active with the Junction City Business and Professional Women's Club, acting as President for one year.

Sylvia was a member of the Junction City Art Assoc. and Garden Clubs, both giving her a lot of pleasure. She has left her family with wonderful paintings and water colors that decorate our homes. Next to her family, flowers and gardening were a big love in her life.

She enjoyed reading, doing the paper crossword and playing games.

Her door was always open, a meal always prepared, and it was a home filled with love. She was the best Mom and Grandmother ever, our teacher and friend.

Alton survives her. She leaves 3 sons: Jim (Holly), Tim (Suzanne), and Ray; 6 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. Also surviving are sisters: Roberta and Neva; brothers: Norvel, Mernie, and Gary. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers: Kenneth and Donald; and sisters Berniece and Roxie.

The family would like to thank the Pete Moore Hospice House for their wonderful care.

I'm so sorry to hear that we've lost this beautiful lady. Sylvia was a big part of my life when I was very young and she even entered me in the Junction City, Oregon Pet Parade and dressed me up as Minne Pearl, hat and price tag included. She and my mother, June Stewart were close friends then. Her husband Alton was my Second Cousin. May God Bless and hold her family in their time of loss!

Sylvia, I'll never forget you. You were a true friend AND did such a great job with all the orders correct and on time, and, on top of that, keeping the Molbio media room "so nice and tidy".
My condolences and best wishes to you, Alton.

My condolences on the passing of Sylvia. She was a close friend of my mother (who died 20 years ago) and I remember Sylvia as a very kind and elegant lady.

I'm so sorry to hear of Sylvia's passing. I'm not positive, but I believe my mother, the late June Miles, was Alton's cousin. I know that my GrandPa's name was Grady Crump. Also, my Dad, the late Bobby Joe Stewart, was friends with Alton.

Anyhow, I recall seeing Sylvia and Alton more often when I was much younger. They were both always so kind to me.

Prayers going up for the Crump family. May the Lord be with you, bless you and comfort you in this time of sorrow and loss.
