Virginia Burgess Obituary

Virginia C. Burgess (Ginny) passed away on March 12, 2018 with her beloved daughter by her side.

Ginny was born in Medford, OR on March 31, 1938 to Wayne and Opal Carter. She was the older sister to two brothers: Dave and Dale Carter. She graduated from Medford High School, where she met her life-long husband Don Burgess. They married in 1957 and moved to Southern California where they had their only child Valerie in March of 1962. They moved to Eugene in 1970. Ginny worked as a legal secretary with Harrang Long Gary Rudnick, and with Curtis and Strickland. She retired in 2008. Ginny and Don were both involved in the art world and were on the board of directors for Emerald Empire Art Association. Ginny was an avid reader, and she had a talent for language and pronunciation. But her most endearing quality was the way she "punctuated" her stories with so much physical animation!

Ginny's greatest thrill in life has always been Nature's Beauty, and to enjoy it as much as possible. Her favorite place was the Grand Canyon and "Red Rock Country" they played down there every year. Don and Ginny both found this to be "the cherry on top" of a very long loving life together.

Mom was always so Happy and Positive, and everyone's best friend. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

We will be Celebrating her Life on her 80th Birthday, March 31st, 2018 at 2:00pm, River Road Annex, 1055 River Road, Eugene.

For over 8 years, Virginia was my sidekick when our lives converged at Curtis & Strickland. We shared many laughs in good times and supported each other in bad times. Although our lives took different paths and we didn't have much contact over the intervening years, I still considered Virginia and Don to be my friends. I was so sorry to hear of Virginia's passing and would like to extend my sympathies to Val and family.
