CAMDEN — Elizabeth J. "Betty" Vance, 93, of Camden, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at Woodland Country Manor in Somerville.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1932, in Windfall, Indiana, daughter of the late James Adam and Rosa Theodora (Koors) Parr. Betty was a graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, Indiana and attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where she was member of the sisterhood of Alpha Omicron Pi. Betty was the co-owner and operator of Vance Custom Farm Service in Camden and had previously worked for 25 years at Becks Hybrid Seed in Atlanta, Indiana. She was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Camden, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Betty also served on the MVCTC Agriculture Advisory Board and was the past treasurer of the Preble County Pork Festival.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lee Vance Jr. in 2008; brothers Eugene, Donald, Jimmy and Bernard Parr; her sister Martha Redden and three grandsons.
She is survived by her daughter Teresa A. Mason; sons and daughter-in-law Donald A. Vance, Michael A. and Amy Vance, and Paul A. Vance; brother Maurice Parr; sisters Marietta Lacyk and Dorothy Wallace; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 407 East Main Street, Eaton, with Rev. Jim Romanello presiding. Inurnment will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton, Indiana at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main, Eaton, with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions please be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Camden, or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
