David Sims Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of David Sims' passing on March 25, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on November 27, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana, Dave spent much of his life in Anderson, where he brought laughter and joy to everyone around him.

A proud graduate of Ball State University, Dave had a successful career as a fork truck driver in the automotive industry, working for New Venture Gear. He also shared his skills as a part-time tax accountant, showing his talent for numbers. Dave was a member of the Eastview Church of the Nazarene. But those who knew him best will remember him not just for his work but for his love of sports, his infectious sense of humor, and his big heart.

Dave had a special knack for making people laugh and was always there to play with kids or lend a helping hand, often spoiling his beloved dogs and showering love on his family.Dave is survived by his wonderful wife, Hildegard E. (Taylor) Sims; six children, Christina Sims, Zack Sims, Eric (Tim) Springer, Trisha (John) Bair, Deric Springer and Heather (Wiley) Weaver; siblings, Terry (Peggy) & Kim (Mike). He also leaves behind a legacy of laughter through his grandchildren-Kodie Bair, Hailey Springer, Hannah Springer, and Rylee Weaver-as well as three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Fallis and Ileen (Conway) Sims.

Services are entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, located at 515 E. 53rd Street, Anderson.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date to honor David's incredible spirit and the impact he had on so many lives.
