ABILENE, TX
Armando N. Garza, 74, of Abilene, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 837 Jeanette Street, with Monsignor Robert Bush officiating. Burial will follow at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mr. Garza was born August 13, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Jose and Trinidad Garza. He had to retire from the Paymaster Refinery at a young age due to health issues. Armando would do minor repairs on his children vehicles and he enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a humble and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. Armando was everyone's handyman and knew no strangers. He would help just about anyone if he could.
Left to treasure his memory include his wife, Guadalupe Perez Garza; his son, Armando Garza, Jr. (Leticia), a daughter, Delia Vincent (Alfonso), all of Abilene; three brothers, Edward Garza (Maria) of Abilene, Daniel Garza (Mary), of Temple, Texas and Hector Garza ( Dora ) of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Alicia Duenes (Domingo) of Lubbock and Sofia Espinoza of Abilene; seven grandchildren, Jessica Yeatts (Robert) of Abilene, Crystal Vincent, Trini Vincent, both of Abilene, A.J. Vincent of El Paso, Armando Garza III (Lucy), Eliseo Garza, Joseph Priest and Javier Meza, all four of Abilene; five great grandchildren.
Mr. Garza was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Trinidad Garza; two brothers, Joe and Alfonso Garza.
Honored to be pallbearers include Armando Garza Jr., Armando Garza III, Joseph "Joey" Priest, Nik Treider, A.J. Vincent and Robert Yeatts. Honorary pallbearer will be Javen Colbert.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel Of Hope, 3349 N. 12th Street. Praying of the rosary will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by wake at 7:00 p.m.
