Boyd Cardon Obituary

Boyd Louis Cardon, age 80, returned to his Heavenly Home July 5, 2022.

Boyd was born March 28,1942 in Rural San Juan County, New Mexico to Joseph Phillip Cardon and Anna Marie Rothlisberger, the fifth of eight children. He grew up in Durango, Colorado and graduated from Durango High. He served a mission in the Uruguay-Paraguay, Argentina South America Mission. He married Terri Le Horrocks on August 13, 1966, in the Manti Temple. He graduated from BYU with his master's degree in Mathematics and began teaching at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah.

In 1970 He took a position teaching Mathematics at Ricks College where he taught for 35 years. He also had the opportunity to teach Religion, Spanish, and Civil Engineering. Boyd became a licensed land surveyor in 1976 - and owned Cardon Surveying which he operated for over 40 years.

He loved fishing, BYU sports, reading, daily walks, gardening but most of all nurturing his Eternal Cardon Garden; He and Terri have 7 Children, 47 Grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren so to this mathematician 1 + 1 = 74.

Boyd loved spending time with his family, traveling to see them, and having them visit. He would share the Cardon family legacy with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. He primarily worked with the youth in the church in Scouting and their spiritual growth. His influence was most felt in his missionary work with his sweetheart where they served, as mission president in San Jose Costa, Rica, MTC President in Mexico City and as the Secretary to the Area Authority in both Monterey, Mexico and Lima, Peru. Boyd was also instrumental in temple and family history work. He and several friends started Piedmont Family organization which spearheaded genealogy research for families from Italy allowing them to learn more of their heritage and perform ordinances for them in the temple.

He was also a contributing member in the community where he served on the board of trustees for Beehive Federal Credit Union, Planning and zoning for the city of Rexburg and the Republican Party District chairman. He loved Rexburg and wanted it to be a place where his posterity could peacefully grow and thrive.

He is survived by his wife Terri Le Cardon and 6 children: Stuart Cardon, (Janene) Heather Weber (Jon), Melodi Johnson (Andy), Kristel Johnson (Brady), Rochelle Larsen (Eric), and Creed Cardon (Angela).
