Dear Rhonda and the entire Carano Family
Chris and I were both so sorry and saddened to learn of Don's passing. Don and all of you were a large part of my life working personally for him for nearly 20 years. I truly felt like part of the family I cared tremendously for all of you. I admired and respected him greatly. He gave so much to the Reno community I felt privileged to have been a part of it. The greatest accomplishment and love was his family. May all of your memories get you through the coming days. He was larger than life and lived an extraordinary life. May he rest in the loving hands of our Lord. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless
Fondly, Tina & Chris Walberg

I first met Don Carano in the late 1960's in his little office on Court Street. I had asked one of his partners, Spike Wilson, to represent me in some legal matters. Spike and that law firm represented me for decades after that.
My first impression Don was that was that he was a bright guy with a ready wit and a quick smile. Don's style in a business meeting was letting others speak, then Don would weigh in with his ideas--always suggesting, never demanding. He tended to say what was on his mind. I was at one meeting with him when he glanced down, then back up at me. "Nice shoes!" he said. They were. He was totally open to an opposing point of view. He was an easy guy to talk to.
Over the ensuing years, I came in contact with Don a number of times, and he never changed, as he moved from being a full-time lawyer to gaming titan. He was always the same guy, who considered himself a lawyer. Don moved in an aura of authority, respect and caring about people and results.
What a guy. I didn't see him much in later years, but it was always good just knowing he was there. Goodbye, Don. Your life affected all of ours.

Please accept our deepest sympathy to the entire Carano family in this difficult time of experiencing the loss of someone you loved and someone Nevadans loved and revered as an innovative entrepreneur. I know that for years to come you will feel great joy in the many memories you have for Don as he was an extraordinary leader in the areas of law, gaming, hotels, entertainment, and the winery business. What a fine legacy he left for his family and friends. The Carano family has always been very good to my family since 1966. His life will always be celebrated with the fondest of memories of a life well lived!
With the warmest regards,
Dawn Gibbons

My deepest sympathy to the family of Donald. Although I did not know him personally, I was touched by his great work by opening the Eldorado and Silver Legacy. My daughter performed this weekend at the Festival and I can attribute that to him, I know he was watching everyone and enjoying.

Great supporter and advocate of the State he lived in and held his gambling interest. I have lived in Reno all my life and aware of all the support he gave to the schools, homeless, church.
Don gave back in so many ways to the city and state he lived in. Many were not aware of his contributions as he was very low key and often silent about all he and his family did and continue to do for our community- but God knows.
That is all that was needed.
