Sharon Date Obituary
10/06/1948 - 11/19/2025
Sharon Chiyo Date, born October 6, 1949, in Reno, Nevada, passed away peacefully November 19th, 2025. Leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and deep cultural pride. A 1967 graduate of Reno High School, Sharon later moved to California, where she attended Modesto Junior College, San Jose State University, and John F. Kennedy University, earning degrees in business administration and organizational development.
In the 1980s, Sharon embraced her Japanese heritage and served as president of the East Bay Japanese for Action (EBJA) Berkeley Chapter. She went on to build a meaningful career at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, retiring in 2015 after 34 years.
Sharon loved traveling, crafting, and cooking, and she treasured visiting her parents and sharing home-cooked meals with them.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maybel, and her brothers Kenneth, Alan, and Curtis. She is survived by her nieces, Sarah Wilson and Nicole Date as well as her extended family in California.
Sharon will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, January 24th, 2026 at Sir Winston Funeral Home, 515 Broadway STE A, Vallejo, CA 94590.
