Reno - On May 2, 2021, an angel came, touched him come home, rest, rejoice from your 83 years of labor. He leaves to cherish his memories his brother Clarence, his niece Jacqueline whom he has always treated as a daughter, nieces Jewel, Tracy, Tarsha, Temeka, Nikki, Roslyn and Kristy, and nephews Melvin, David, Kenneth, Larry, Ricky, Sherman, Derrick and Patrick, and a host of cousins, grandnieces and nephews, others relatives, military friends and neighbors and church family friends.

James served 20 years in the Navy, and 17 years for the Department of Defense as a Merchant Seaman. In James's 57 years in service of HIS country and federal government, he served with excellence, professionalism, skills and leadership. After retiring from military service, James continued in service of the military community by actively serving and physically and financially supporting numerous military entities, not limited to but including USO, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legions, National Association of American Federal Police, Wounded Warrior, NARFE, and visiting veterans who had fallen ill over time. James even lived in a predominately military community of Reno upon retiring.

James treasured and loved his service-connected relationships over the years as a second family. Foremost he loved his family, his cousins, nieces, nephews and his extended family.

A Celebration of James' life is scheduled on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Walton's Sierra Chapel, 875 West Second Street, Reno, Nevada.
