John Cooper Obituary

John D. Cooper "Coop"

Reno - John D. Cooper, best known as "Coop" passed away Sunday, October 14th, 2018 at his home in Gold Canyon, Arizona. John was born June 21, 1941 in Stettler, Alberta, but was proud to have taken root in the United States and become an American citizen in the early seventies.

Always a salesman and often the boss, Coop's successful professional career had him living in many places in California but ultimately settling in Reno, Nevada where he spent many years as part owner and operator of Allied Petroleum. Serving on many boards Coop was also an active member of the Executive's Association of Reno and proudly served as Vice Chair Petroleum for the Nevada State Board of Agriculture. In retirement Coop continued to enjoy being a dynamic member of the Reno business and social community. Growing a little soft, Coop finally escaped the cold Reno winters to enjoy warmer climes afforded by a home in Arizona. He traveled back and forth golfing and recreating year-round.

We will miss most Coop's playful teasing and laughter; he was the life of any party, could find something in common with just about anyone and if allowed, could negotiate you out of your most prized possession. We will always remember Coop's love of the kitchen, often preparing sumptuous, multi-course meals which he found the most joy in sharing with those he loved.

John is survived by his children Nicole and Brad Naucler, and Colleen Cooper and Chad Praul, his step-children Tamara and Nick Stosic and John and Sheila Zenz, his grand-children Sydney and Avery Naucler, Lincoln and Hudson Praul, step-grandchildren, Joey Cordi, Cody Heddy, Robbie Heddy, Drew Stosic, and his loving companion, LaVon Rose. John is preceded in death by his parents, older brother and wife Joan Cooper.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Lake Mansion at 1 pm on November 10, 2018. The Lake Mansion is located at 250 Court St. and Arlington Ave. in Reno.

So sorry to hear, John was a good friends. We so enjoyed Coop's humor and his dice games, playing cribbage and his bar-b-ques. We will miss him.
