June Bohmont

June Rains Bohmont was born on June 9, 1922 in Wheatland, Wyoming. She died unexpectedly on 22 September 2017 in Reno, Nevada. Her father, William Wallace Rains, and her mother Lida Maye Miller Rains are both deceased. Her brother, Wallace Bray Rains and her sister, Margret Rains Bailey, are both deceased. June is survived by her sons Dennis Bohmont and Craig Bohmont and various nieces and nephews.

June was raised in the Chugwater and Wheatland, Wyoming rural area in a ranching environment. She graduated from Wheatland High School, class of 1940. While attending Wheatland High School, she was active in a variety of organizations, which included drama activities, pep club, and was Prom Queen. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Wyoming, Laramie where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She then taught for one year at a one student rural school on the Kris Ranch on the Laramie River on the Wheatland area. During WW II, she held a Civil Servant position at Eagle Pass, Texas and later at Brooks Army Air Field, San Antonio, Texas where her husband Dale Bohmont was stationed. After WW II, she returned to Laramie, Wyoming to obtain her Bachelor Degree in 1948. She completed a four-year program in two years by taking a heavy class load, summer school and correspondence classes.

She and her family have lived in a variety of locations through her husband continuing education and employment. June has found memories of time spent in: Laramie, Wyoming; Lincoln, Nebraska; Cambridge, Massachusetts; Ft. Collins, Colorado; and finial moving and settling in Reno, Nevada in 1962. June was active in the Reno area by participating in a various bridge clubs, New Comers, AAUW, Century 21 Club of Reno and she was active member in the Washoe Medical Auxiliary through the Washoe Medical Hospital. Beside her many activities, she as worked at the Nevada Insurance Exchange and the Flower Box where she enjoyed the people she worked with and the people she had the opportunity to meet.

June enjoyed a variety of leisure activities. She enjoyed extensive international travel having visited to sixteen plus countries. This activity also allowed her to visit all fifty states including Washington D.C. Her other activities included amateur landscape painting. June collected elephant carvings. The size of the elephants range from about quarter inch to about twelve inches tall made from a vast variety of material with a size of here collection too numerous to count. Another enjoyable past time was arrow head hunting in the vast Nevada Desert. She never found any, but enjoyed the beauty of the Sage Brush State.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 28th from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Walton Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd Street, Reno. June will be laid to rest in Wheatland, Wyoming.
