Patricia Krohngold Obituary

Patricia F Krohngold

November 25, 1934

January 17, 2014

Pattie was born in East Peoria, Illinois to Frank and Waunetah Gish. After graduating from East Peoria High School in 1952, she worked writing commercial copy and performing other tasks for WTVH, a television station in Peoria. Eventually she moved west and worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines. Here she met pilot Jack Lewis. The two were married in 1958. Together they had a daughter, Trelaine. Jack passed away in 1964.

After Jack's death, Pattie moved back to Los Angeles and worked as an airport guide at L.A. International Airport, leading school children on tours. During the same period, she volunteered at Daniel Freeman Hospital. There in 1968, she met her future husband, Stan Krohngold, a physician on the medical staff. They were married in 1970.

After their marriage, Stan and Pattie moved with daughter Trelaine to Palos Verdes, where Pattie spent most of the next twenty years as a homemaker.

When Stan retired from his practice in 1990, the couple decided to move to Reno, Nevada. During their retirement years, they developed a love for fly-fishing and spent many of their happiest moments fishing their favorite spots in Montana and Wyoming. In Reno, Pattie joined Kiwis and Folded Wings, both organizations for retired flight attendants. Always an outgoing and friendly person, she also loved playing Bunco and shopping for gifts for those she loved.

Pattie made friends wherever she went, and had a deep love for others, especially children. She was Grandma Pattie to every child she met.

She is survived by Stan Krohngold, the love of her life and husband of 43 years; her beloved daughter, Trelaine Lewis; her sister, Peggy (Ed) Hash; her treasured niece, Bambi (Michael) Hood; her cousin, Becky (Larry) Dodillet; other family members and many, many friends.

A celebration of her life will be held in June. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation to your favorite charity.

Our dearest Pattie, how we will miss your smiling face, your compassion for anyone in need, the wonderful Kiwi and Folded Wings luncheons when you drove me, and the almost daily phone calls to see if you could run errands for me. You will remain in my heart and memories for all time. How lucky I am to have had you in my life. God bless you on your new journey. Jan
