Ruby Anderson Obituary

Ruby Movelle Anderson

May 1, 1927

June 10, 2014

Ruby passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 10 with family and friends by her side. She became an angel with grace and courage. She had no doubts about the wonderful life Jesus had waiting for her. Her loving spirit and mind were still with her but her body was done with this world.

Ruby was born to Oscar and Florence Gardner at their rural farm in Duncan, Oklahoma in 1927. She married JB Anderson in 1945 and raised one child, Vivian.

Ruby was preceded in death by Oscar and Florence, her beloved husband JB, brother Orland (Ida Sue), sister Eudine, infant sister Emma Ann, brother Bill (Pauline), sister in law Margie Gardner, niece Shari Hogan and her son-in-law Butch Keen.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Vivian Keen. Brothers James and Gus Gardner, sister Hallene Newman. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Linda (Tommy) Cooper, Joy (Eddie) Battershell. Bill (Suzanne) Gardner, Rita (Jim) Herman; James (Mary) Newman, Steve (Nona) Newman, Cathy (Patton) Parish, Carolyn (Greg) Gammon; Greg (Gwyn) Gardner, Tim (Julie) Gardner, David (Sandra) Gardner, Stacy Hackler; Earl (Penny) Gardner, Ralena (Mike) Fewell. Extended family Jennifer Mello, Kirsten Doering, Max Prada. Special blessings to Kirsten, Max and Infinity hospice who helped with bedside care during the last days.

Until the last Ruby continued to cook Christmas goodies, and gardened enough in the summer to feed half the neighborhood.

Services will be held in Duncan Oklahoma at Carter-Smart funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved JB at Duncan cemetary. A celebration of life in Reno will be planned later this year.

Our dear Ruby,

Twenty three years ago you came into our home and into our lives. To care for and to help us raise our four month old baby girl as we hurried off to work. Over the course of those first six years you taught Jennifer how to read and so much more. You provided experiences that though she may not remember them, helped to
mold and to shape her life for years to come. The young girl who left your loving embrace to begin school has been a perfect angel. A fitting example of the angel who came into our lives when we, as nervous new parents needed assistance and more especially, someone to trust and to care for our only child. There was never any mistaking the special significance whenever she stood proudly and introduced you. When she gripped you tightly and despite her shyness, would without hesitation and in her tiny little voice say, “This is my Ruby.”

You made our lives fuller and richer and each of us wiser in the process by knowing you. We are deeply indebted to you for getting our baby girl off to a good start, for the extra special things you did for all of us, and for the overabundance of love you shared with each of us. We are so glad that you were still here and able to see Jennifer graduate from college.

You have been and always will be remembered as our precious gem, too.
