Christopher Lyman Obituary

Christopher "Chris" Lyman, 82, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2015 with his family by his side. He was married to Sandra C. (Gustafson) and they had celebrated 57 years of marriage. Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of late Christopher A. and Mabel M. (Brown) Lyman. Upon marriage, Chris and Sandra moved to their family home in Warwick. Chris was a loving, proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his wife, he leaves three children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild: his daughter Daune and her son Christopher; his daughter Cynthia and her sons Cole and Elliot; and his son Christopher and daughter-in-law Gina with their two sons Ryan and Eric and great-granddaughter Anna.
He served his country in the U.S. Army 705th AAA Gun Battery B during the Korean War and was mobilized to Okinawa. He was a member of the East Greenwich Veteran Firemen's Association, The Disabled American Veterans, The American Legion, The Democrat National Committee, and was member of a golfing league for 32 years at Exeter Country Club. He had been a shellfisherman for most of his life and later worked as a rural letter carrier, retiring from the U.S. Postal Service.
In addition to his wife and children, he leaves his dear brother Philip Lyman and his wife Rose of Providence, R.I. He was brother of the late Marie Sherman, Helen Hannifan, Ruth Barrett, Jane Gardner, Louise Lyman, Jack and William Lyman.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday May 20 at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. His funeral and burial with military honors will be private. In lieu of flowers, an act of kindness or a good deed would be most appreciated in memory of Chris.
