Anne Davis Obituary

Anne B. Davis

A loving and gentle soul has left us. Anne B. Davis died on July 1, 2021, she was 67.

Nearly four years ago, she was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma, a rare form of brain cancer which she fought aggressively. Throughout that battle, her only admonition to the medical teams was to get her well enough to return to her beloved Willow Oaks County Club and its golf course. They did and she did!

Anne was born in Rocky Mount, Virginia, daughter of the late C.J. and Marie B. Davis. After graduating from Franklin County High School, she attended the College of William and Mary, where she excelled academically and socially, including being a member of and President of Tri Delta Sorority. Subsequently, she earned a master's degree in Urban Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her professional career as an information technology specialist included positions with the Chesterfield County Police Department, Supreme Court of Virginia and Dominion Energy, from which she retired 11 years ago. Retirement allowed her to focus on her passion for golf. All golf, all the time she would say.

A day that did not find her on the course would resemble, some might say, a day without sunshine. She loved the game and loved her friends. Anne served as President of the WOCC Ladies Golf Association and became an integral part of the Richmond Women's Golf Association. She was Vice President of the RWGA from 2016 to 2017 and elected President in the fall of 2017, a tenure so regrettably cut short by her illness.

As reporter Vic Dorr Jr., profiled for the Richmond Times-Dispatch in an article about Anne's return to the course in the 2018 RWGA city tournament at Stonehenge Golf and Country Club, Anne occupied her mind during MRI exams by playing imaginary rounds of golf at Willow Oaks. Golf was her elixir.

Anne possessed a bubbly personality, an infectious laugh, a quick wit, a love for animals, lots and lots of things orange and that ever-present camera draped around her neck to capture it all. Her circle of friends is expansive. So large, in fact, it is not possible to list here. But, you know who you are!

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her nephew, Chad. She is survived by her partner of 19 years, Janet Kuklinca; her brother, Charlie Davis (Christine) of Midlothian; and her nephew, Dr. Andrew Davis of Atlanta.

Anne's legacy can be honored with a donation to the Richmond Animal League, 11401 International Drive, North Chesterfield, VA 23236 or an animal shelter of your choice.
