Donna B. Wright of Roanoke, Va., was born on December 12, 1957, in Winston-Salem, NC to B.T. and Nita Brodie. She passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, surrounded by family after a four-year battle with Frontal Lobe Dementia.
Donna was the sweetest soul and had a heart bigger than anyone could imagine. From her days at Moore's to her days as a stay-at-home wife and mom, she was nothing short of AMAZING. The door to her home was always open to family, friends and even strangers. Those who had the honor of knowing her loved her and she left an unforgettable mark on their lives. We ask for prayers as we send her into the gates of Heaven to be with her amazing husband, Kim Patrick Wright, who preceded her in death in 2015.
She leaves behind a son, Chris Wright (Cienna); stepdaughter, Patra Philpott; grandson, Declan Wright; sisters, Cindy Schenker and Toni Barrett; brother, Steve Preston (Carolyn); niece, Brandi Hoyt (Robert); nephew, Josh Barrett (Monica); nephew, Drew Preston; and niece, Lindsay Brown. She also leaves behind two great-nephews, Jacob Barrett and Gage Hoyt, and great-niece, Hailey Barrett.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Oakey's South Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.Oakeys.com.
