Good morning,Jim, this is your cousin, Carol Stump McConnell=daughter of Dewey
I want to thank you for notifying me about Aunt Florence. We had no idea and she was a favorite Aunt. Every High School reunion we went to she was there and we got to catch up on you and your family. I thought I knew a lot about her but reading the material you sent was like getting to know her for the first time!! What a woman! I was thrilled to hear that after she retired she went back for another degree. What an inspiration for us girls!
I remember your Mom way before their marriage and how thrilled and excited she was to have a child. Not at 1st,as it was quite a shock, but you and your family have blessed the rest of her life. I never really got to know you or be around you but got updates from your Mom every time I was with her. You were a loving son, giving her the freedom of choice for her life and I know how hard that is! My Dad suffered demencia and was always moving to a new place often w/out any notification! God always protected him and your parents as well. I know that you have many wonderful memories that you'll carry w/you the rest of your life as do I. Love to you and your family and thank you again for keeping me informed.
PS One of my husband's long time friends who was in Florence's class recently got her address from me and wrote to her. I notified him of her death and he was so moved to realize how timely his contact was. It's truely amazing how far reaching her teaching and mentoring is!! I copied and sent Sam Hall the obit.

Mrs. Stump was one of many outstanding teachers at Jefferson High School. She was my second year Algebra teacher and she was certainly a terrific teacher. After reading her obituary and seeing all the extensive and quality education that she received, I understand her gifts of intellect and wisdom.
I was fortunate to be able to keep up with her during the following years, seeing her at the hospital and different museums, etc. where she volunteered (also even at Ridgewood Gardens when I visited an aunt there. She was always so cheerful and pleasant to visit with.
She was a fine lady and I consider it a priviledge to have known her and benefited from her teaching! (As the Hallmark commercial says - I did not become a teacher, but I did go into a mathematical field as a computer professional - all because of the superb math training I received in school).
You have my deepest sympathy and know you will miss her.

Jim and Patsy: Dianne and I are sad to hear of your mother's death, but not surprised. She had a long and productive life in her church and community. Please be assured that we are praying for you during this time of adjustment to your mother's death and all the associated activities.
