Jane Painter was also my Gym Teacher at Andrew Lewis High School. She was my favorite because I loved gym and sports. Jane was also my neighbor for 33 years. She used to take care of my poodle Lucy when I had to travel for work. She would walk over for a short visit real often just to see how I was doing. I didn´t see her much in the past few years after I moved but I will always remember what a nice and fun person she was. She had great Holiday get togethers too. She will be missed. RIP Jane.

I loved having her as a teacher. But my favorite memory was during driver's ed - she had me drive onto I-81 (back when it wasn't too bad). Her only advice - drive faster!!!

Miss Painter was my gym teacher and instructor at Andrew Lewis and Sigma Kappa sister at Madison. I was scared to death of her but came to realize she was a lovely person.

She was a great mentor for me. Enjoyed being one of her gym assistants when I was a senior and it was an honor to be on her basketball team!

I was just a young girl in 8th grade when my 48 year old Daddy died suddenly from a heart attack. Miss Painter took me under her wing and helped me all the way through high school. She always wanted to know how I was doing. I appreciated her so much, impacted my life. RIP

Ms. Painter was my basketball coach in high school, at Andrew Lewis. We always had so much fun as a team and Ms. Painter was always so patient and always seemed to know that this was a very important time in our lives. She enthusiastically invited my mother to come to games, as I seemed to play even better when Mother was there. I saw Ms. Painter many times in her retirement years, at Salem events and sometimes in Roanoke. I will never forget her and will I miss her.
