Lonza Ray Pagans Sr.

Lonza Ray Pagans Sr., of Roanoke, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at age 87. He was predeceased in death by his mother, Annie Lee Altice Pagans; father, Ewell Pagans; brothers, Melvin Ewell and William Curtis Pagans; sister-in-law, Evelyn Pauline Pagans; brother-in- law, Jesse Lee Holdren; great- grandchild, Ashleigh Swain; and niece, Wilma Jean Pagans. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Annie Marie Laprad Pagans (Anne); son, Lonza Ray Pagans Jr. (Bo); daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Louise Pagans Lowry and Clinton Lowry; and son and daughter- in-law, Garrett Stephens (Steve) and Michelle Pagans. Also surviving are sister, Mary Pearl Pagans Holdren; sister- in-law, Bernice Smith Pagans; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; stepgreat- great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews. Lonza retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He also served in the Air Force and Army in World War II. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Roanoke with the Rev. Lonza Pagans, PhD officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. The family will receive friends from noon until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
