Nancy Swann Obituary
August 25, 1939 - November 19, 2024
Nancy Moran Swann, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2024. Born on August 25, 1939, in Salem, VA, to Valeria P. Moran and Curtis L. Moran, Nancy lived a life full of love and dedication to her faith, family, and community.
Nancy was married to William C. (Bill) Swann, Sr. for over 60 years. Together, they built a loving family and shared countless memories. She is survived by her children, William "Billy" Swann, Jr. (and Ann), Curtis "Ken" Swann, and Michael Swann (and Sarah); her sister/cousin, Brenda Kingerly; her grandchildren, Joshua Ulery (and Noel), Lindsey Gomez (and JC), Benjamin Swann, and Nathaniel Swann; and her great-grandchildren, Braxton Ulery and Isla Gomez.
A proud graduate of Longwood University, Nancy dedicated her early career to nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher. Later, she extended her love and care by running an in home daycare for 25 years. It felt as if "Ms. Nancy" watched half the kids in her neighborhood at some point or another, helping to care for our community through her generous spirit.
Nancy was a long time resident of Midlothian, VA, where she lived for the past 50 years. She was an active member of Salisbury Presbyterian Church, where her faith and kindness were evident to all who knew her. Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially feeding and watching the neighborhood birds and squirrels.
Nancy's warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held in Salem on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park, 1250 E Main St., Salem, VA, 24153. Michael L. Swann will officiate.
A celebration of life service will be held in Midlothian, VA, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Salisbury Presbyterian Church, 13621 W. Salisbury Rd, Midlothian, VA, 23113. Time is yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nancy's name to The Parkinson's Foundation (parkinson.org).
