JOHN BAXLEY
PEMBROKE — Mr. John Baxley, 68, Pembroke, turned in his tractor keys here on Earth to forever help Jesus to tend the gardens and fields in Heaven on Feb. 10, 2018.
Mr. Baxley was an avid farmer, who was often in fields from sunup to sundown, planting corn, hay or beans. Mr. Baxley was also a mechanic who could often tinker and fix anything broken. When not in the fields or in the cow pasture, you could find Mr. Baxley at home with his one true passion, his family.
Mr. Baxley was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Carl and Retha Baxley; a brother, Mr. Fletcher Baxley; his loving wife of 37 years, Mrs. Frances Baxley; and a grandson, Mr. Jonathan Wayne Jones Jr.
Mr. Baxley is survived by three sons, Mr. Micheal Baxley (Tonya), Mr. Jonathan Wayne Jones (Erica), both of Maxton, and Mr. Cody Baxley of North Dakota; two daughters, Mrs. Rhonda Oxendine of Lumberton and Mrs. Nina Gail Jones-Hernandez (Roel) of Pembroke; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Shawana Marie Jones of Maxton; a brother, Mr. Duncan Baxley of Maryland; four sisters, Mrs. Ann McGee and Ms. Katheryn Dunbar, both of Georgia, Mrs. Rachel Muse of St. Pauls, and Mrs. Barbara Allen of Lumberton; two granddaughters, Ms. Nia Danielle Carter and Ms. Jasmine Makayla Lewis; a grandson, Nathaniel John Jones; a great-granddaughter, Ms. Nalyah Jadiel Carter; and a host of relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thompson's Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Thompson's Funeral Home Chapel.
