Jonna Shirkey Obituary

Jonna Fay Swain Shirkey, 45 of Broadway passed away June 15, 2025 at her nephew's residence. She was born August 18, 1979 in Rockingham County to the late John Sr. and Evelyn Dove Swain. Jonna worked at Cargill in Timberville as a scale operator and attended Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg. Surviving is a daughter, Brianna Swain of Broadway; grandchildren, Aspen and Mason Ashenfelter of Timberville; sisters, Connie Dove and husband Gilberto of Woodbridge, Viola Fulk and husband Billy of Fulks Run; Brother, John Swain "Jr." of Broadway and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, McKayla Miller; nephew Phoenix Biller. Her body was cremated. Pastor Edward Steele will conduct a memorial service 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg. A visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grandle Funeral Home, P.O. Box 114 Broadway, VA 22815, to help offset unexpected funeral costs.
