NASHVILLE - Christopher (Chris) Ray Helton, 23, passed away July 16, 2013. He was born January 15, 1990, in Charlottesville, VA but lived the majority of his life in Nash County. Chris was a 2008 graduate of Northern Nash High School where he participated in the ROTC program. Chris was an avid wordsmith and loved listening to and writing music, loved the Boston Red Sox, and spending time with close family and friends. His smile, sense of humor, crystal blue eyes and long eyelashes will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother and father, Jessica and Mike Dickerson; brother, Matthew Dickerson; maternal grandfather, Earl Pitts; maternal great grandmother, Joanne Smith; paternal grandparents, Ivan and Yvonne Dickerson and Howard and Phyllis Helton; special aunt, Bonnie Pitts and a host of special family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Cornerstone Funeral Home Nashville, N.C. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.
