Danny Joe Morrison

Mr. Danny Joe Morrison, age 71, of Rome, GA, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, at a hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Mr. Morrison was born in Rome, GA, on June 30, 1951, son of the late Joe William Morrison and the late Mildred Walters Morrison. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kay Simmons Morrison. Mr. Morrison was a 1969 graduate of West Rome High School. He retired from Georgia Power after 40 years where he worked in numerous capacities, from control room assistant to turbine operator. Mr. Morrison was a member of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66, where he was heavily involved in the organization. As a mason, he was a member of the Daylight Lodge, the Low 12, was the President for 12 years of the Johnny Agan Chapter #15 Traveling Men (the Masonic motorcycle riding club), was the head of the dramatization team and a member of the York Rite commandry. Mr. Morrison was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Matt Morrison, Rome, and Brent Morrison, Rome; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, July 28, 2022, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. Phillip May officiating and Randy Payne delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens where masonic rites will be presented.

The family will receive friends from 11am until 1pm on Thursday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

Pallbearers are to assemble by 12:30pm on Thursday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: active, Joey Martin, Adam Simmons, Dan Patrick and Van Patrick; members of the Traveling Men will serve as honorary pallbearers.
