1959 - 2025

Cynthia D. Shannon died peacefully in her sleep on June 22, 2025, with her beloved sister, Becky, at her bedside, at Rome Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for a short time.

She was born on April 17, 1959, to John and Phyllis Didlake Shannon in McConnellsville. The youngest of their eight children, she was always known as the baby of the family. She was raised in McConnellsville and attended schools there and in Camden.

Cyndi's life was simple: she just wanted to be surrounded by friends and family, specifically her grandson, Kaedyn (who was the light of her life). She loved to play any and all games and also had so much fun swimming with Kaedyn in his family swimming pool. Cyndi was always willing to try anything and was in turn, a source for a good belly laugh usually when she would end up getting herself in a sticky situation and end up hurt OR injured (never too seriously). Ask anyone in the family, and they will have a funny "Cynda" story (that is what we called her). Funny, but not funny. She was also known for acting a fool with her oxygen tank alongside her, like at her brother Jimmy's graveside services where she dragged it along the gravel path not discreetly while people were speaking on his behalf. Or when she was on the dance floor at her niece, Camryn's, wedding, family circled around her, lips blue, and her other niece, Jenny, whipping the oxygen cords in a circular motion while she refused to stop dancing OR take a rest! That was Cyndi, never a dull moment, but always a hoot! Cyndi was always smiling and laughing, that was her nature. She didn't have a mean bone in her body and just wanted to give love and be loved!

In her younger days she worked as a CNA alongside her sister Becky at various nursing homes in Rome. They both loved taking care of others and were known for how much they loved their patients! She was also obsessed with WWE Wrestling. She would jump at the chance to see a live event which she did many times over the course of her life! She was also a collector of clowns and figurines, loved cats, and had many feline companions that she cherished in her lifetime!

She loved going on yearly family camping trips in Old Forge, going to Water Safari and would also jump at an invitation to a family cookout, where she was always known to take home as many leftovers as she could carry! Being with her family was what brought her the most joy in life! To know Cyndi was to love her, and although her untimely passing is painful for her family, it is a relief that she is no longer suffering! We are all at peace knowing that she was greeted by her beloved family that went before her, we know that they are rejoicing together now!

Cyndi was predeceased by her parents, John and Phyllis; two of her sisters, Patricia (John) Ciulla, and Sharron (John) Burgess; one of her brothers, James (Cathy); and a nephew, Patrick Burgess.

She is survived by brothers, Michael (Judy), and John (Janet); sisters, Kathleen (Jonathan), and Rebecca; her loving children, Tiffany (Joshua), and Ryan; her grandson, Kaedyn; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
