Herbert L. "Herbie" Clark Jr.

1938 - 2024

Herbert "Herbie" L. Clark, Jr., age 86, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Albany Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

Herb was born in Rome, on January 18, 1938 to the late Herbert and Margaret Dunster Clark and graduated from RFA. On May 13, 1961, he was united in marriage to the former Dorinda "Dori" House. Herb worked at Griffiss Air base hospital for over 40 years. In retirement he worked many years at the former Rome Savings bank.

Herb enjoyed golfing, fishing, NASCAR, and a good cold beer with his friends. Always quick with a good one liner or one of his endless stories he was friends to so many and more importantly loved by all. He cherished his family most and spent countless days watching his kids on the football fields, baseball diamonds, lacrosse fields and playing hockey at Kennedy arena. He had an artistic side and drew and painted many works. He coached many kids in little league baseball. During his high school years, he ran cross country, wrestled, and ran track. He was a member with the Elks club.

Herb is survived by his loving wife, Dori; his sons, Tim (Sherri) Clark of Roscoe, NY, Patrick (Marina) Clark of West Hartford, CT, and Chris (Robin) Clark of Fairport (Rochester) grandchildren, Jennifer (Jared), Amanda (Kevin), Melyssa, Ryan (Kelly), Tim Jr. (Chelsea), Cody, Garrett, Giacomo, Santiago, Samantha, and Elizabeth; seven great grandchildren; his sister, Suzanne (Brian) Seldon; his brother, Joe (Maureen) Clark; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Cooke; and sister, Nancy King.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM, and on Friday from 12 Noon to 1 PM prior to the service.
