A. Maxine McDanel 1919—2016
A. Maxine McDanel, 97, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Generations at Neighbor's in Byron. She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Moravia, Iowa; the daughter of Elsie Tucker. Maxine married Herbert V. McDanel on Jan. 12, 1936, in Centerville, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1999. Maxine worked as a sales clerk in several downtown stores in Rockford. She was a member of the United Church of Byron. She and her husband, Herbert loved to travel the United States. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; son, Bill McDanel; daughter, Sue and her husband, Russ DeShazo; daughter-in-law, Judi McDanel; granddaughter, Dawn Martin; grandson, Mike McDanel; and great-granddaughter, Brianna McDanel. She is survived by her 3 sons, Bob McDanel of Rockton, Don (Kay) McDanel of Byron, and Gary (Ginger) McDanel of Byron; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at the United Church of Byron, with the Pastor Dave Bateman officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
