Bernice Tierney Obituary

BERNICE 'BEA' FRANCIS LANGEL TIERNEY ROSCOE - To the world, she was known as Bernice "Bea" Francis Langel Tierney. To us, she was Bea, Nice Baum, Mom, Aunt Bea, Nurse Bea and Nana. And now to God and our Lord Jesus Christ, we'd like to think she's Saint Bea. She was born in Lemars, IA, on a farm in '36 shared by her parents and 8 siblings. Oh, what a household that must have been! Nursing was her calling. Caring was her gift. It started when she met her man, Richard "Dick" Tierney, who together shared 55 years of undeniable love giving life to 6 children, Karen, (Scottsdale AZ), Tommy (Heaven), Steve (Susan in Dallas), Dan (Kris in Roscoe), Mike (Dallas) and Joe (Tina in Roscoe). We take peace in believing she was greeted in Heaven on October 3rd by her parents (Leo and Pauline Langel), her son, Tommy, several of her brothers and other friends and relatives. We're confident there's a card game being played and several bruised shoulders to the left and right of Bea. She is survived and loved by her sisters, Vi Kellen (Lemars, IA) and Mary Lou Straub (Colorado Springs); her brothers, Leonard, Roman and Marvin (all in Lemars, IA); her grandkids, Farrahn (Pecatonica), Morgan (Dallas), Tiffany (Roscoe), Jarrett (Roscoe) and Ryan (Dallas); her great-grandchildren, as well as seemingly hundreds of nieces and nephews in Lemars. She spent a life on Earth caring for others in their time of need and seeing some of life's darkest moments but she shined. Oh, did she shine! Her unbridled enthusiasm when she'd hear your voice, her unwavering belief in and encouragement of her family and friends, her relentless love of others and then there's that laugh, which was pure infectious joy no one could resist, and her cackle, that she'd bellow when she beat you in anything, usually followed by a shout of " How about that!? ". Yes, how about that, Nice Baum/Mom/ Nana!? We will miss you dearly and we'll think of you everyday but we're excited for the amazing experience you're having with God. WE LOVE YOU ! Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with a visitation at 10 a.m. until service time on Monday, October 7, in Honquest Funeral Home with Crematory, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe. Graveside blessing will follow in Roscoe Cemetery. In honor of Nurse Bea, we request that donations be made to the RocVale Children's Home in Loves Park where Nurse Bea worked previously.
