Dear Mrs. Englund and Family,
So sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. I knew him as our family mailman on Ridge Ave. for many years. Chuck taught me to strip and wax floors @ Home Federal Savings! God Bless you all and Chuck.

Chuck was the best and friendlist mail carrier we ever had when we first moved to Rockford and lived on Grant Ave. Then we were lucky to have him as our mail carrier for the many years we lived on Belmont Ave. He always asked how our children were doing after they
grew up and left us. He was always intersted in the many people he delivered mail to. He was one of a kind & there will never be another mail carrier like him.

To the Englund family, I just heard about the passing of Chuck. My dad knew him since grade school and spoke of him fondly through the years. I knew him as a "dad" through grade school with his son David and then again as my mothers mailman in Northwest Rockford. And my husband wound up working with him at the Post Office as a mailhandler these past 12 years and is still there! He was a great person and we will remember him always. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sue Dohm-Watson and Don Watson

Chuck was our mailman on Woodlawn Avenue in Rockford when I was a small girl. My older brother was in Korea at the time. Whenever a letter arrived from Korea, Chuck would ring our doorbell and deliver the letter personally. I agree, everyone should have a mailman like Chuck. My heartfelt wishes and prayers go out to his family.

I grew up on Latham St. in Rockford so Chuck delivered mail to my family for about 18 years. Whenever he would see a birthday card in our mail he'd ring the doorbell and sing happy birthday. As a kid I figured everyone had a mailman like him. Now I know that they didn't. My mailman was one of a kind. Whenever Chuck walked by he would let us listen to the music on his headphones and if we were playing a game in the front yard he'd jump in the game for a few minutes. We got to sit in his mail truck and I think we even inherited one of his postal shirts. I'll always remember that he made me feel pretty by encouraging me to wear my glasses when I was the first insecure kid in the neighborhood to get them.
Chuck was more than a mailman to 3525 Latham St. He was more like a member of the family - a favorite uncle who always made us smile. He will be sincerely missed.
Katie (Hartz) Wernberg
P.S. Every birthday I still cherish this secret childish hope that the mail carrier will ring my doorbell and sing.

As someone on his postal route, he always had a smile and a pleasant greeting. He knew each and everyone on his route. After retiring he then became a neighbor that we could wave a friendly greeting. Truly a great family man, he will be missed by many.

He was a real man. Loved his family. Loved outdoors. A great neighbor. One of a kind. Not too many like him. God bless him.
