Marjorie, Jean, Nancy & Diana,

Our hearts go out to you. Mark called for my brothers tonight to let me know of Clare's passing. We are sorry, we cannot be with you tomorrow.

You all have a special place in my memory. As for me (Bill), I have such great memories of you all. I enjoyed working with your dad even when he was upset with something a I did wrong. Clare was 36-38 when I worked for him as a hired hand and we had lots of conversations. Over the years, he always showed me a deference and respect that I never understood. He seemed very happy at my promotions and hearing about our travels. Dad (Wayne) often told me that Clare had asked him, "where in the world are Bill and Lois now?" My dad also always liked Clare. When we would return to the Rockton / Shirland area over the years, Clare and I would meet and pick up just like we had been chatting yesterday.

Marjorie, I also fondly remember our time together. Especially as a young boy soon to enter manhood. You were so very kind to me. With three young girls, parent next door and me, "a young farm hand" to boot, both you and Clare opened both your lives to me and I have always kept those shared times hidden in my heart. Nancy and Diana, obviously my memories of you are far more etched than yours of me. As young girls, I was fascinated by you lives and actions having been raised with all boys. I know you have both become great parents. Dearest Jean, our sister, friend, and godmother of our oldest son, Lois and I would, if possible, gather around you and hug, cry and laugh at this time so full of loss and past memories.

Since your family became an important part of my life, 43 years of living and experiences have softened my heat to loss. Though time and distance separate us, we have said a prayer for you all, trusted Clare's soul to a sovereign God, and tomorrow, we will again recall to each other our memories of each of you and of Clare Clover.

Love & Trusting You Into God's Mercy and Grace,
Bill & Lois

I remember the Clovers from meetings re:seed dealership. I remember my husband, Bob (deceased June 2008) enjoyed talking w/Clare. They would call each other if someone wanted an extra bag or two of seed if they did not have it on hand themselves. I know that they both were strongly committed to sharing 4H with young people. My sympathy to your family. Marie Hopkins

Dear Family,
Clare was always kind & friendly. I will not ever forget something he did for me. I was in Farm & Fleet buying some supplies I really need as soon as I got home. It was before F&F accepted credit cards. I was a few dollars short of what I needed. Over my shoulder I heard "take this". I turned and saw a $20 bill that Clare was handing me. Yes, I mailed him a check as soon as I got home.

Thanks again Clare.

Mr. Clover was one of the finest men I have ever known. I respected him as a business man/farmer, the father of a well respected family, and a pillar of the community. Many of my childhood friends, my brothers, and I benefited from his 4-H club leadership. He helped mold many of our local youth, now some are grandfathers, themselves. May God bless his soul, as he was a blessing to many. I am out of town and will not be able to attend the service. I send thanks to the Clover family for sharing him with the community. All my best, Brad Gummow

Jean: Your dad was a unique person and we were all graced by him being here with us. When he visited the bank, he couldn't wait to tell me a joke and to see if I had any for him. What a great sense of humor. He will be truly missed. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

I remember Clare fondly--for a couple of years, he was my "hay guy". I marveled at how he scurried up that ladder into his hay loft to throw down the hay. At the time, he was around 75 or 76 years young! An amazing man who's presence will be missed on this earth. My God bless and keep his dear wife.
