Ernest Welbeck Obituary
Ernest Welbeck, 66, of Rockford, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. He was born March 5, 1951, in Accra, Ghana, West Africa, the son of Isaac and Helen (Ashie) Welbeck. Ernest married the love of his life, Evelyn, and had been together 34 years. Ernest came to America in 1976, and started his career at Glidden Paints. He then went to work for Valspar, where he retired after 33 years. Ernest enjoyed reading anything and everything . He was a selfless, giving man. Most of all, Ernest loved spending time with his family. Ernest will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Ahmed and Allen; grandchild, Christian; sisters, Nora, Eunice and Henrietta; brothers-in-law, Nee Abloh and George Adjekum; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and his sister.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, February 17, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to determine at a later date.
