Henry Brummel Obituary

HENRY F. BRUMMEL, 81 MONROE CENTER - Henry F. Brummel, 81 of Monroe Center died Thursday, March 25, 2010, in Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. Born Oct. 14, 1928, in Aurora, the son of Leo and Gertrude (Modaff) Brummel. Married Margaret Sullivan on Jan. 29, 1955, in Elmhurst. Henry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer in the Kirkland and Belvidere areas for many years. He then worked for Custom Grain Cleaning for more than 30 years, and he also worked in Union for Techalloy Wire Co. Member of St. Catherine of Genoa Church, DeKalb County Farm Bureau and Kirkland Lions Club. Survived by sons, Thomas Brummel of Rockford and Kevin Brummel of Monroe Center; daughters, Marie (Doug) Cole of Kewanee, Julie (David) Way of St. Charles and Laura Johnson of Monroe Center; son-in-law, Jim Stewart of Garden Prairie; grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan, Weston, Brian, David, Lisa, Nicholas, Andrew, Jessica, Melissa and Michael; brothers, Leo (Delores) Brummel, Nick (Loretta) Brummel, Edward (Maryann) Brummel, Robert (Pat) Brummel and Richard (Alice) Brummel; sister, Mary (Bob) Kammes; brother-in-law, Walter (Kathy) Sullivan; sisters-in-law, Mary Kuhn and Nancy Sullivan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Margaret; daughter, Susan Stewart; and sister, Barb. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, with Father Timothy Seigel officiating. Burial in St. Catherine Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the local family owned and operated- Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa. Wake service at 4 p.m. Monday.
