Janette C. Pearson, 91, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Alden Debes, where she was recuperating after a fall. Janette was born on July 9, 1929, in Rockford, the daughter of Leonard and Thelma (Watt) McCammant. She was a graduate of West High School (Class of 1947) and attended Rockford College. She married the late Gerald L. Pearson on August 27, 1949, at Third Presbyterian Church. Their children, Andrea and Chuck, remember how Janette made holidays and birthdays special through craft projects, cookie baking, and thematic celebrations with handmade favors. Her friends will remember the inviting dinners and parties that she and Jerry warmly hosted at their home. Janette gave generously of her time and talents in the many charitable organizations to which she was devoted. She was a lifelong member of Third Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to the Women's Association and Lucia Circle. She organized numerous events and fundraisers over the years and served on many specialized committees, including a pastor search. Janette was also a member of Chapter V of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Alabet Temple Daughters of the Nile, and the Rockford Women's Club. She was a gifted accountant who capably fulfilled the challenging duties of Treasurer for her P.E.O. chapter, for which she also served as President, and her expertise and reassuring demeanor inspired the confidence of her clients at H&R Block. Janette is survived by her children, Dr. Andrea Pearson of Takoma Park, Maryland, and Dr. Charles Pearson of Rockford; brothers Stanley (Sharon) Beksel of Davis, IL and Robert Beksel of Vacaville, CA; sister Marilyn Thelen of Rockford; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews across the country.
