Jarod Hansen Obituary

JAROD A. HANSEN, 41 ROCKTON - Jarod A. Hansen, 41, of Rockton IL, died at 9:30 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014, in his home. He was born November 15, 1973, in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Russell Hansen and Loretta (Richardson) Ryer. This is a great view of this man. I've rode beside him for over 20 years and no matter where we were going it was the best place to be. I had the honor of loving, seriously, the best Dad, leader, mentor, and friend. And even fighting metastatic cancer over the last 2 years, I know that that man loved me and our children, POWERFULLY. Now we will take all that love, all the crazy, inappropriate Hansen misadventures, and all the laughter that he gave us and we will carry that in our hearts until we meet him again. Jarod wanted his life celebrated and did not want a funeral. So to honor his wishes, please meet us on Sunday, December 14th, at 5 p.m. for fellowship and a pint at the VFW of Loves Park, 2018 Windsor Rd, Loves Park, Illinois. Don't bring flowers, bring stories. McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois assisted the family. I was Jarod's commanding officer in Afghanistan. I came to know Jarod as a great soldier and mentor to his team members. He was tuff when he needed to be and had a huge heart all of the time. He served the Army, his country and his family and friends well. He deserves all of the accolades that he is sure to receive from his friends. I have thought of all of our team members many times since returning home, but I will always have a special place in my memories for you Jarod. RIP my friend.
