Margaret Funk 1930—2016
Margaret Funk, 85, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born December 14, 1930, in Three Rivers, MI; the daughter of Harold and Thelma Schabacker. Margaret graduated from the University of Miami, FL. She was a Champion Horseman, loved gardening, needle point and bridge. Margaret enjoyed playing board games and cards with her grandchildren. She was a founding member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and longtime member of the Elgin Country Club. Survivors include her children, Theresa Funk Baum, Michael (Karen) Funk, Patrick, (Jo Ann) Funk and Catherine Funk Jenkins; eight grandchildren, Ginny, Brien, Michael Jr., Jacob, Scott, Nicholas, Cody, Jazmyn; and great-granddaughter, Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Funk in 2005; her son; Arthur Funk Jr.; grandchildren, Nathan Baum, Arthur "Trey" Funk III; two sons-in-law, William Baum and Todd Jenkins.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin, with Rev. Richard Rosinski officiating. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and on Saturday, at the church, from 9:45 a.m. until the time of mass.
