Sandra Brasher Obituary

SANDRA D. BRASHER, 49 MACHESNEY PARK - Sandra D. Brasher, 49, of Machesney Park passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford. Born May 15, 1959, in Louisville, Ky., the daughter of Otha Douglas Smith and Zella Mae Waddell. Sandra married William R. "Bobby" Brasher Jr. on June 30, 2008, in Greeneville, Tenn. Sandra was employed at Barber Colman in Rockford for 23 years. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved baby-sitting and spending time with her grandchildren. Survived by husband, William R. "Bobby" of Machesney Park; son, Bruce Bird of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Shawn, Alyssa and Ayden; mother, Zella Freeman of DeKalb; sisters, Linda Beck, Kay (Rick) Shields and Pamela Hicks, all of DeKalb, Patsy Smith of Franklin Grove, and Madgie Brown of Tucson, Ariz.; aunts and uncles, Eva and Connie Smith of Simpsonville, S.C., Betty Smith of Greenville, Tenn., Ray and Sandy Waddell of DeKalb; several nieces and nephews; stepdad, Wayne Scott of DeKalb; stepsons, Josh (Chrisy) Bird of Sarasota, Fla., and William R. Brasher III of Rockford. Predeceased by maternal grandparents, Taylor and Lulie Waddle. Memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, with visitation from 4 p.m. to time of service. The Rev. Russell Barber of Kings Mansion Church in Kingston will officiate. Cremation has taken place at Anderson Funeral Home Crematory in DeKalb. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for Sandra D. Brasher in care of the Anderson Funeral Home Ltd., P.O. Sandra,
The short time we knew each other was precious. Both Don and I have very fond memories of the fun times we spent with you when we were in town. Whenever you walked into a room, people stopped what they were doing to say hi. You are truely are a special angel. God bless and may you find your peace.

To Zella, Brucie, and family, I am sorry that Sandra passed away. Even though things didn't work out between me and her, The ten years we spent with each other were special to me, And all the things we encountered together. I was glad that I was there to aid Sandra through her diagnosis and treatments for cancer. Zella and family, I will always be here for you if you need me and you will always be in my prayers.
