Stella Jefferson Obituary
Stella Marie Jefferson, of Rockford departed this earthly life January 25, 2016, after a sudden illness. She was born February 28, 1943, in Gum Springs, Arkansas; the daughter of Paul and Thersia Bryant. Stella lived in Rockford over 50 years coming from Arkansas. She married Lloyd "Jack: Jefferson, January 20, 1962, in Arkansas; he preceded her in death. Stella was employed over 40 years by GC Thorsen before retiring. She was a member of West Side Church of God in Christ, serving as the president of the nurses aid, secretary of Sunday School, Mother of the church and member of the Pastors Aid. She graduated from Peak High School. Stella leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Marcia (Robert) Owens and Katrina Cossey; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy (Willie) Felicien and Felica (James) Bass and Belinda Bryant; three brothers, Willie (Sherry), Roger (Janice) and Gerald (Jean) Brant; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and special friends, including her godchildren, Whitley Herron, Darius Watkins, and Robin Dixon. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, four sisters and one brother.
Services will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016, at St. Paul C.O.G.I.C. 1001 Bishop Washington Avenue (former Wigton). Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. Final arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W. State St.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr & Mrs Jefferson back in Aug 2000,when I moved next door. I knew they were genuine Christians upon our first conversation. They are Godparents to my children Darryus and Donnelle.
Mrs "J" has spoiled Darryus since bringing him home as an infant.
She was a beautiful person whose smile and laugh could make a person feel comfortable in her presence. I loved her homemade cakes it was a nourishment to the soul.
I'm going to miss you Mrs "J", but it is comforting to know that GOD called one of his best soldiers off this battlefield and to take her rest in his arms. You and Mr. "J" are together now. Rest in Heaven

OH HOW I LOVED THIS SISTER. I ENJOYED SINGING "PRAISE SONGS WITH HER OFTEN ON PROGRAMS. THIS GOD FEARING WOMAN WILL SURELY BE MISSED IN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF ALL. I SHARED WITH MY SON DR. I was blessed to know Mother Jefferson shortly after moving to Rockford and joining West Side COGIC. She was a wonderful example of what a Christian should strive to be. My heart is heavy at the lost of Mother Jefferson and my heartfelt condolences are extended to her family. Missed but never forgotten.
