MIDDLEBURY - Aaron L. Savage, 52, of Orwell, passed away on October 12, 2015, at the Helen Porter Health and Rehab Center in Middlebury, Vt.
Aaron was born in W. Lebanon, a son of the late Albert and Janet (Gray) Savage. He grew up in Orwell and graduated from the Fair Haven Union High School.
On September 28, 1985, he married Willy Burden and they shared over 30 adventurous years together. Aaron was a true Renaissance person, having several career opportunities in his life. He had an extreme work ethic, which he hopes passed to his children.
Aaron was a self-taught cook and worked as a chef in the food service for Green Mountain College, Castleton State College, and also for the Fox Run Inn in Ludlow. He also had a career working for VT DHI Tester and also served in the Animal Breeding industry, working for over 27 years as an Artificial Breeding Inseminator.
Not one to sit idle, he was self-employed as a lawn-care manager and mowed 7-plus cemetery locations in his local Orwell area along with many private properties. Aaron loved cooking, animals and traveling with his family, especially to the Grand Canyon, S. Padre Island, TX, and Myrtle Beach, SC.
He is survived by his wife, Willy of Shoreham; a daughter, Faaron Savage of Bethel, VT; a son, Todd of Plymouth, N.H.; 2 brothers Andy Savage of White River Jct., Allen Savage of Orwell; and a sister, Jill Bourassa of Enfield, CT.
Friends may call at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home on Saturday October 17 from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a Celebration of his Life to be held in the Orwell Community Church, Orwell, on Sunday at 3 p.m.
In place of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the University of VT Extension Service, 23 Mansfield Ave., Burlington, VT 05401, and the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
Per Aaron's request, a scholarship will be created in his memory, for students who want to pursue a career in agriculture.
