Alejandrina LERMA Obituary

LERMA, Alejandrina (Rascon)
June 5th, 1927 - Nov. 27th, 2013

Alejandrina Rascon Lerma, age 86, born in the State of Sonora, Mexico, passed away peacefully at Mercy San Juan Hospital with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Saturnino Barrios Lerma; mother, Concepcion Estrada de Rascon, father, Fernando Rascon; sisters, Griselda Estrada Rascon, Enriqueta Urrea Rascon; and brother Claudio Urrea Rascon. She is survived by her brothers, Ruperto Estrada Rascon, Zeferino Urrea Rascon; sisters, Oralia Urrea Rascon and Maria Ester Urrea Rascon; sons, Anthony Lerma and Mario Lerma; daughters, Irma Barbosa, Cristina Loeffler (David), Alicia Enos (Rick); grandchildren, Anthony Lerma (Heather), Amber Lerma Wilson (Michael), Michelle Barbosa Khan (Suhail), Vincent Barbosa (Katherine), Gino Enos (Tosha), Laina Bartosh (Chris), Angelo Lerma, Isiah Lerma, Alexander Loeffler and Chelsea Loeffler; great grandchildren, Madison Lerma, Joey Lerma, Sophia Wilson, Gabriel Wilson, Max Barbosa, Enzo Enos and Juma Khan; along with so many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our mother, Alejandrina, was the most loving individual one could ever meet. She never met a stranger; one would have thought she was the Mayor as she greeted everyone in passing on a daily basis. She worked very hard to raise her family, and was always there for any family member or friend in need. She was up early to get us ready for school, to make dinner and get us to bed. When we were younger, we could not comprehend how much time & care she put into our family. Now that we all have children of our own we can appreciate the amount of effort she put into raising a family of five, and for this we will all be appreciative. She had a passion for cooking and baking with no formal training. One would think that she had majored as a trained chef as all of our friends and family would attest to this as they loved to dine at our home. Our mother was an amazing woman who loved to sing, and she was a master at whistling. She loved the outdoors, especially her beautiful hummingbirds as they danced around her head giving her so much joy. Gardening was her passion. She was the only person that we knew of who could take a cut rose from a bouquet and make it grow. Her garden was filled with the beautiful colors of her favorite Dahlias, Cannes, Calla Lilys, Hydrangeas, Geraniums, Cactus Flowers and the most amazing vegetable garden imaginable. She worked hard, never complained, and was always there for us. We all loved her so much. She will be truly missed here on this earth, but know that her spirit lives on. GOD BLESS OUR SWEET MAMACITA QUERIDA!
We would like to thank Dr. Linda Agresti, Dr. David Roberts, Dr. Thomas Park, Dr. Guardia, Dr. Knee and the kind staff at Mercy San Juan & caregivers for the extraordinary care they provided.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, December 5th from 4:30-6:30pm & the Rosary @ 6:30pm at Lombard and Company Chapel, 1550 Fulton Ave., Sacramento. Alejandrina's mass of Christian burial will be @ Our Lady of Guadalupe Church: 711 T Street in Sacramento, Friday, December 6th, 2013 @ 10AM followed by internment @ the Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive St., Fair Oaks, CA.

Alejandrina Rascon Lerma was a proud and beautiful mountain Yaqui woman. She loved all five of her children equally. Although we never received the material gifts she wanted to leave Mario, Tony, Cristina and I, we and our children will always have the gifts of her love, her love of truth and her eye for beauty. Mama we will honor you by receiving these precious gifts that will last forever.
