Barbara Kaden Obituary
May 2, 1934 - November 2, 2024
Sacramento, California - Barbara Ann Kaden passed away at home on November 2, 2024 at the age of 90 years and six months.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to David C. and Esther E. (Schroth) Schilke, Barbara graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1951 and from Concordia Teachers College (now Concordia University Chicago) in River Forest, Illinois in 1955, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a minor in Biology. In June 1975, she received her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of San Francisco.
A lifelong teacher, Barbara taught at Lutheran schools in Albuquerque and San Francisco in the 1950s. Along with her husband Harold, she helped found Town & Country Lutheran School in 1958. From 1972 to 1991, she taught for San Juan Unified School District at Earl LeGette Elementary School, Pershing Elementary School, and Mary Deterding Elementary School. She returned to Town & Country Lutheran School as Acting Principal from 1991 to 1993, and served as co-Interim Principal at St. Peter Lutheran School in Lodi from 1995 to 1996.
She is survived by her husband Harold; daughters Kristin Kaden Dreyer (Richard Dreyer) and Laurie Kaden; and grandsons Harrison Dreyer and August Dreyer.
A Christian Service of Victory will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Town & Country Lutheran Church, 4049 Marconi Avenue, Sacramento, officiated by Rev. Matthew D. Roeglin. A reception will follow in the church's Friendship Center.
Interment of ashes will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Missouri.

Sending my deepest sympathy to the family. I attended Town & Country Lutheran School in its infancy as there were only 2 teachers & Barbara was our school choir director! Barbara fostered a lifelong love for music in me. Even now at the age of 72 I still sing in my church´s Worship Team!
Barabara was always kind to me as her student and have many a fond memories of her teaching us all how to sing and do parts etc! May God bless her family and know that she richly blessed my life!
