Cynthia Meggin (Cindy) Loya Dall, noted artist, musician, singer, and songwriter, died at age 41 in her Curtis Park home on Thursday, April 5. The cause of death has not yet been determined. Cynthia was born in Roseville, California, and grew up in Sacramento, graduating from McClatchy High School (Class of 1988). She attended CSUS and UC Berkeley, from which she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy. Early in her music career Cynthia collaborated with Smog's Bill Callahan. She released her own CD (DC73) on the Drag City label in 1996, followed by Sound Restores Young Men (DC132) in 2002. Cynthia was the daughter of Stephanie and Norbert Dall of Sacramento and the late Bob Loya of Roseville. She is survived by her parents, brothers Carey of Oakland and Aaron of Barcelona,sister Renee and brother-in-law J.R. Parker of Sacramento, niece Madeline and nephew Henry Dall-Parker, also of Sacramento, and grandmother Pearl R. Moffitt of Roseville. She leaves behind family, friends, and fans around the world. A memorial for Cynthia is scheduled for Sunday, April 15, from 2 - 4p.m. at the Sierra 2 Center Garden Room and Courtyard.
