My beloved Uncle Dan has passed and my heart hurts that I won´t see him again. My cousins Patrick, Tom and Liz are in my thoughts at this difficult time. This loving man always took time to have a personal conversation with me, especially during my school years to ask about my classes and grades.
His wit and teasing humor always made him someone fun to spend time with.
He will be deeply missed by all in our large extended family.
Peace be with you Uncle Dan

My prayers to the Gallery Family as they grieve and mourn the passing of Mr. Gallery. As a young boy, I was friends with his son Danny Jr. We both attended St. Francis Elementary School. I would regularly visit and spend the night at their home. I knew the entire family. I always felt welcomed by Mr. Gallery and enjoyed staying in their nice home on 21st Street.
Probably 40 years later as a man, I once popped into Mr. Gallery's office at 926 J Street. I knew that was where his office was located. Upon entering, I introduced myself to him and explained the connection. While he had no memory of me, he was very cordial and interested in me and we had a great conversation, probably over 20 minutes. He gave me an executive briefing of all family members and what was going on in his life. I knew he was an attorney specializing in water law.
I shared with him my memories of staying at their home and a picture I remember hanging on the wall of him and some state water officials. It was a black and white photo. I couldn't remember the details behind it but I do remember it in the home. He then showed me the photo and it brought back memories.
It was a delightful visit, one that I still remember to this day. He was similar in age as my parents and a person who emphasized physical fitness. I vaguely recall, and I may be wrong, that he wrestled in high school or college. I remember a couple of homemade barbells in the backyard made with coffee cans and cement. One was about 40 lbs. and the other 65 lbs.
Reading his obituary, he obviously lived a long and fulfilling life. And, judging by where he last lived, I'm guessing he went to live with his oldest son.
May perpetual light shine upon his soul and may his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed through the Mercy of God rest in eternal peace.
