Condolences to Dennis' family and friends - He will be remembered by those who knew him long ago - from the Class of 1966 at Cordova High in Rancho Cordova, CA.

My deepest sympathies to Rachel and Ian. Dennis' and my paths crossed because he and I both worked for the State, where Dennis was well regarded by his peers. Before that, Dennis and I had a connection through the Masonic activities of both of his children. I was happy to meet Rachel through Job's Daughters, and I played the piano for Ian's DeMolay installation. To Dennis' family, may your own memories bring you comfort in this time of loss.

My condolences to Dennis' family. I am a former employee of Dennis. Back in my long ago shy days, Dennis called me into his office and said, "La Sonja, you are a lot brighter than you put on, you need to learn how to toot your own horn". Why did he tell me that? They haven't been able to stop me since. I have promoted four times since then, simply by taking Dennis' advice. He was a jewel.

Dennis was honored at the State Department of General Services Customer Forum on July 21, 2011. He was given this honor because he was a great small business and disabled veteran business enterprise advocate in addition to all his other duties. As a fellow advocate, I can vouch for Dennis being a breath of fresh air to the group and always keeping things light. He will be missed.

I knew Dennis for over 35 years and all during that time considered him a close personal friend and confidant. There was a time when we had lunch together almost every Friday...comparing anecdotes about our jobs and families. We always found something to laugh about, no matter how bad things were going. He had a brilliant mind and was a very kind person. He was also a dedicated state employee and manager. He most certainly will be missed.

Dennis will be missed by so many of us here at the Department of Housing and Community Development. It was a beautiful service today and I'm glad so many people were there to honor his memory. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and I pray that their happy memories will be a consolation to them during this difficult time.

My condolences and prayers go out to Rachel and Ian. It is difficult to lose a parent. I didn't know him well, but I do have the memory having sharing a coffee with him when Meg was in the hospital. He seemed very kind and thoughtful.

Dennis was a dear friend and confidant. We had many long conversations over recent years about his son, sister and other relatives. I enjoyed our weekly meetings for dinner on Monday nights for last couple of years. Dennis rarely complained about his health, but I could see that he was concerned. He loved nothing more than to sit in his easy chair with his two cats and watch his beloved Kings on his big screen TV. I had the privilege of attending a couple of games with him. I know now why he did not return my calls last week. I am only sorry that I did not follow my instincts, go over, and check on him then.
As it was, I just heard today that he had passed from a former co-worker, who now works with me at The Board of Equalization. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and other friends; I know I will miss him and he will be missed by others as will!
