Summerville, South Carolina - Erika Condon DeMille passed away in her home in Summerville, South Carolina on July 25, 2024, at the age of 74. A graduate of Rio Americano High School, she went on to earn her BA in English from Sacramento State and a Master of Library Science at the Univ. of Denver. Erika was known for her elegance, style and sharp wit. She valued her many lifelong friends who she continued to write and call until her passing.

Erika was a beloved figure in the library community, known for her leadership, dedication, and tireless advocacy for libraries and public service. Her career began as a Corporate Librarian at Computer Sciences Corporation, followed by Library Director at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles. She later directed the El Segundo Public Library before culminating her distinguished career as Mendocino County's Library Director. Erika also served on several state library boards, where she advocated for integration of new technology, particularly in rural libraries.

Erika was preceded in death by her husband Lynn DeMille and parents Lt. Col. William M. Condon and Ingeborg Neitzke Condon. She is survived by siblings Deborah Condon, Karen Mattox, William Condon Jr. and Christine Amos, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Germany. A special thanks to Erika's neighbor, Caroline Mayshack. The family held a private memorial near Charleston, South Carolina, on October 15, 2024.
