Harry ARCHER Obituary

ARCHER, Harry Lee
Born on November 6, 1932; he left us on January 31, 2010 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for the last 5 years. Harry was the beloved husband of Lois, his wife of 59 years. He was the loving father to daughters, Nancy (Eric Trahan), Elaine (Craig Thordsen), Jenny (Steve Wilson) and son Mike (Diane) Archer. A proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Harry was a patriotic U.S. Air Force soldier, and longtime Aerojet employee. His second and most fulfilling career was Director of Community Hospitals of Central California. Harry will forever be remembered for his wonderful guidance and love. He loved to travel with his wife, Lois, in their RV and enjoyed their retreat in Truckee, CA. Many thanks to Kaiser Hospice of Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kaiser Hospice program. Friends are welcome for visitation Wednesday from 4-8pm and are invited to attend services Thursday 10am, all at PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (6335 Sunrise Blvd., 725-2109). Interment Fair Oaks Cemetery.

Our dear Lois,

How many times we have thought about you and Harry, and the great times we had with Bette, Peg and Bill, (the Reno "fun train", our many St. Patrick's Day bashes!!). I will always be grateful to Harry for his mentorship during the early stages of my career, and for his extraordinary friendship through the years. Our love and sympathies to you and your family.

I first met Harry in the summer of 1995, he and Lois had hired me to re-tile their kitchen counter and although I was only there to work, Harry welcomed me into their home and made me feel like I was family. It is so rare in life to meet someone with such a warm and genuine personality. I am honored to have known Harry. My thoughts are with Lois and his family.

Harry was a great friend and mentor to all who worked with and for him. I had the great pleasure of working with him over the past twenty years. Harry was loved by everyone that worked with him during his few years with HLS for which he came out of retirement seven times for short engagements. Harry will truly be missed by all of us. Harry will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Lois I have a long list of great stories that I would like to share with you sometime in the near future.

I had the pleasure of working with Harry at HLS. I was fresh out of college and he took me under his wing, for which I was and am grateful. I truly enjoyed his stories of the “old days.” He was a pleasure to know and work with and will be missed.

It is truely devastating to lose the one who guided, supported and loved all in one package. Your pain does subside and you are left with all of those words of wisdom,,sometimes unsolicited words of wisdom, to remember. :) Love to Aunt Lois and all of the cousins.

Nancy,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father Harry. I know how much he meant to you. You were so blessed to have been able to spend the past 3 years caring for him and giving of your time in taking him to the doctor and being there for him at that moment when he needed you. Thanks to Eric also. You were the best daughter to him and you will be blessed for all you did. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to meet him. What a kind man. Enjoy all your memories of him. As that song goes Nancy, "Walk Tall Your a Daughter, A Daughter of God." No one can ever say that you weren't there for your Dad

You are loved,
Bill and Ana Lee Wade

My father:

It has been a privilege the last three years living close to him. We had our last 'Daddy Daughter' date at a Kings game (they lost).

I will always cherish our drive from Salt Lake City to Citrus Heights in 2006. For 14 hours Dad talked and talked and I learned more about him on that drive than I had ever known.

Our last private talk two weeks ago was wonderful and I am so grateful for our conversation. Dad gave such good advice (not always taken) and he worked so very hard to support his family.

I remember when he dropped me off at Del Campo High School when I was a freshman, the girls watching me get out of the car thought he was my boyfriend! He was so handsome.

If I can think of one word to describe my father it is LOYAL. No matter how he was perceived or treated, he was loyal.

I'll see you again, Dad.

Your daughter,

Nancy Leigh Archer Trahan
