Kathleen Rose

1949 - 2025

Kathleen M. "Kathy" Rose, 76, of Davis, CA, passed away unexpectedly at home.

Born in Malden, Massachusetts, Kathy dedicated her life to service, care, education and community. She began her nursing journey with a diploma from Whidden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Everett in 1969. That same year marked the start of her distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force as a flight nurse. With unwavering commitment, she served until 2002 and retired honorably as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Committed to advancing her education and profession, Kathy earned a BS in Nursing with honors from Sacramento State in 1982 and an MS in Nursing from UC San Francisco in 1984. Kathy became a respected and committed nursing educator, who taught for more than two decades at Sacramento State, where she inspired countless future nurses.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and community volunteer. She was active in St. James Catholic Church and other organizations such as Guide Dogs for the Blind. A generous philanthropist, she contributed to causes close to her heart including the Yosemite Conservancy, The Parkinson's Foundation, and the American Cancer Society.

Kathy loved English horseback riding, baking, hiking, and especially Halloween. She welcomed everyone into her home with warmth and generosity. Even after her Parkinson's diagnosis, she showed remarkable strength through Rock Steady Boxing, earning the nickname "Knock Out."

Kathy's legacy of service, education, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.

Kathy is survived by her husband Robert Chung; sons David and Matthew; daughter-in-law Michelle; and extended family who will carry forward her light.
