Mark Kaminski Obituary

Mark Kaminski
November 19, 2022
Elk Grove, California - Mark James Kaminski, a very bright, energetic young man who was always in search of a new adventure with his father and younger brother, passed away from kidney and adrenal cancer on November 19, 2022, at the age of 26. He is survived by his parents (Bruce and Kathie), brother (Johnny), sister (Kristina), grandmother (Anastasia Andritsakis) and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins.
As a young person with autism, Mark worked hard to fit in with his classmates and friends and was mainstreamed in school with the support of his behavioral therapists. He earned a Certificate of Completion at Cosumnes Oaks High School, where he did well in math and geography. After high school, Mark volunteered at Rescate Coffee Shop and the Elk Grove Library, and performed office clerk tasks at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD).
Mark endured many challenges in his life, but found joy in small moments every day. He enjoyed listening to music, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching video movies (Indiana Jones, Princess Bride and Karate Kid were favorites), going out to eat, going for walks, bike rides, swimming, playing basketball, and participating in Sports for Life and Fly Fit sports. Mark always liked going to baseball games, Apple Hill, the State Fair, the Night to Shine Prom and Friday Night Club. Most of all, Mark loved excitement and going to new places with his dad and brother. He loved riding the scariest roller coasters at Disneyland, exploring new beaches, playing in the ocean, and going fishing and hiking at Lake Tahoe.
Private services will be held for family only. In lieu of flowers, please send a gift to the Autism Research Institute or FEAT-Sacramento or an autism charity of your choice.
