Mavis Carter Obituary

CARTER, MAVIS EVELYN
Born Mavis Evelyn Bullock Aug. 8, 1917 in Butte, Montana and only child of Jeremiah Gerrans Bullock and Lillie Cowling of England. Mavis died Nov. 16, 2002 at Mercy San Juan Hospital. Her Father was a Cornish miner at the Empire Mine and Mavis graduated from Grass Valley High School in 1934 and Mt St Marys in 1935. In 1935 she moved to Sacramento and for the next 36 years she worked in accounting for the Department of Employment, Division of Mines, Board of Equalization, AH Burd, EF Corbin, Mancell R Hough, and Greenwood and Associates. In 1971 she rejoined the state at PERS from which she retired Aug 9, 1980. Her husband, Jack passed away Jan 3, 1987. She remained active, often in severe pain from osteoporosis and did bookkeeping for San Juan Vet Hospital until early 2002. She believed in honesty and fairness and she loved and cared for her Keeshounds and cats. She is survived by her only son, John E. Terrill of Lincoln, Ca; grandchildren Christopher Terrill of Sacramento, Tanya Lewis of Sacramento, Jeremy Terrill of Sacramento, Todd Terrill of Sacramento, Stacey Hubbard of Chico, Scott Terrill of Sacramento, and Brian Terrill of Lincoln, CA; great grandchildren Gabrielle and Madeline Terrill of Sacramento; and by her many friends including long-time friends Kathy Thoms of Citrus Heights and Terry Naylor of Lincoln. At her request, no services will be held; however, donations in her behalf may be made to charities which help dogs and cats.
